Rivers-Marie Wines, established in 2002, is located just south of Calistoga on Highway 128 in Napa Valley. The winery is owned by husband-and-wife team Thomas Brown, a well-regarded winemaker, and Genevieve Welsh. The name "Rivers-Marie" is derived from their middle names. Initially focused on limited production Pinot Noir from the Summa Vineyard in Sonoma County, Rivers-Marie has since expanded its offerings to include Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, sourcing grapes from various vineyards in both Sonoma and Napa. The winery recently opened a new tasting room, enhancing its visibility and visitor experience. The site was formerly home to Forni-Brown-Welsh Gardens, an organic farm known for its vegetables. The tasting experience often takes place outdoors, reflecting the property's agricultural heritage. Rivers-Marie produces several single vineyard designate wines, including notable examples of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are characterized by their quality and complexity, with a focus on vibrant flavors and balanced acidity. Thomas Brown's extensive winemaking experience and consulting background contribute to the winery's reputation for excellence in the Napa Valley wine scene.
