Robert Foley Vineyards, located in Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, is owned and operated by winemaker Bob Foley and his wife Kelly. Bob Foley has a rich history in winemaking, beginning his career in Napa Valley in 1977 after studying oenology and viticulture at UC Davis. He has worked with notable wineries, including Heitz Cellars and Markham Vineyards, and has been instrumental in producing wines for various small wineries in the region. The vineyard was established in 2006, with existing vines dating back to the late 1990s. Currently, it spans 5 acres, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, focusing on hillside vineyards to enhance wine quality. Foley's meticulous vineyard management, often in collaboration with vineyard manager Hector Lopez, results in wines known for their concentration and acidity. Robert Foley Vineyards produces around 8,000 cases annually, including notable varietals like Chardonnay and Charbono. The Charbono, a rare grape in Napa, is particularly significant, with Foley being the largest producer of this variety in the region. Visitors can expect a passionate tasting experience reflective of Foley's dedication to winemaking and the unique characteristics of Napa Valley wines.
