Rockmere Wines, established by Chet Pinckernell, is located in the southern Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. Chet's journey into winemaking began with frequent visits to Napa starting in 2002, leading him to purchase a 6-acre property with a 4.5-acre vineyard that was previously planted with Chardonnay but is now primarily dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon and a small block of Cabernet Franc. The vineyard is well-drained and features rocky soil, which contributes to the wine's character. The first vintage under the Rockmere label was produced in 2018, with winemaker Jeff Ames overseeing the process. The wines are known for their complexity and depth, with notable releases including the 2021 and 2018 Cabernet Sauvignons, both of which received positive reviews for their flavor profiles and aging potential. Tastings are conducted at Hunnicutt Winery, where visitors can experience several vintages in a cozy setting. Chet and his daughter Bailey, who joined the winery in 2020, host these tastings. Rockmere Wines has a small production, typically between 600 to 800 cases annually, and is selectively distributed in local restaurants and parts of Tennessee.
