Rudd Estate

Oakville, CA

Rudd Winery is a prominent 55-acre estate situated in the Oakville appellation of Napa Valley, known for its premium Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate's vineyards, characterized by rocky, iron-rich soils, are highly regarded and visible from the Silverado Trail. Originally owned by Steve Girard, the property was sold to the Rudd family in 1996. Leslie Rudd, who had a diverse entrepreneurial background, significantly influenced Napa's wine and culinary scenes before his passing in 2018. His daughter, Samantha, now oversees the winery. Rudd Winery focuses on producing high-quality red Bordeaux varieties, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, and also cultivates unique white varietals on their Mt. Veeder property. The estate features well-maintained vineyards and offers an inviting visitor experience with intimate tasting spaces amidst lush landscaping. The winery employs innovative winemaking techniques, including the use of portable concrete tanks and clay amphorae. Rudd's wines, such as Samantha's Cabernet Sauvignon and the Mt. Veeder Sauvignon Blanc, are noted for their complexity and aging potential. The winery has a strong reputation for quality and is a significant player in Napa Valley's wine landscape.
