Schramsberg Vineyards, established in 1862, is one of Napa Valley's historic wineries, located south of Calistoga in the Diamond Mountain sub-appellation. Founded by Jacob Schram, the winery was the second bonded winery in Napa Valley and has a rich history of producing still wines until the mid-20th century. The property changed hands several times before Jack and Jamie Davies acquired it in 1965, marking a new era focused on sparkling wines. Under the Davies' ownership, Schramsberg became the first U.S. winery to produce sparkling wines using traditional Champagne methods with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The winery's production includes vintage-dated sparkling wines, with their iconic Blanc de Blancs being a standout. The estate features approximately 41 acres of vineyards at elevations between 500 and 1,000 feet, and has expanded its vineyard holdings in the cooler Carneros region. Visitors can explore the winery's extensive caves, which are among the largest in Napa Valley, and enjoy tastings that highlight their unique sparkling wine offerings. Schramsberg is known for its commitment to quality and historical significance in the Napa Valley wine scene.
