Seavey Vineyard

St Helena, CA

Seavey Vineyard is situated along Conn Valley Road in the eastern hills of Napa Valley, approximately 15 minutes from the valley floor. This historical site, originally a cattle ranch, has roots dating back to the 1870s when Charles Volper planted grapes. The property features a stone winery, one of the few remaining ghost wineries in Napa, and has a rich history, including a notable murder incident in 1882. The vineyard was purchased by William and Mary Seavey in 1979, who transformed it from a horse and cattle ranch into a grape-growing estate. Currently, the vineyard spans about 200 acres, with 37 acres planted to vines. Seavey Vineyard is committed to sustainable practices, including solar power and organic soil amendments, and produces wines exclusively from estate-grown grapes. The winery's first commercial vintage was in 1990, and it features a unique barrel aging cave. Current winemaker Jim Duane, along with consulting winemaker Philippe Melka, focuses on producing wines that age well while showcasing balance and texture. Seavey Vineyard offers tastings in their renovated stone dairy barn, providing visitors with a serene experience amidst the picturesque landscape.
