Selah Wines, established by Joe and LeeAndra Blanton, released its first vintage in 2014. Joe's passion for wine began during his time as a Major League Baseball player with the Oakland Athletics, where he was introduced to fine dining and wine. His interest deepened through visits to Napa Valley, particularly to smaller wineries, leading him to purchase a 7-acre vineyard near Outpost Winery. Selah focuses on producing a single varietal Cabernet Sauvignon from a 2.75-acre vineyard on Howell Mountain, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon clones 7 and 337. The vineyard is adjacent to Beringer’s Steinhauer Ranch and is managed by Josh Clark, with winemaking overseen by Thomas Brown, a prominent figure in Napa Valley. The wines emphasize balance and complexity, with the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon noted for its vibrant fruit and earthy notes, while the 2023 Chardonnay is praised for its food-friendly character. Selah Wines aims to create a reflective experience, as suggested by its name, which means "to pause or to reflect" in Hebrew. The Blantons are actively involved in all aspects of the winery, from harvest to marketing.
