Sequum

St Helena, CA

Sequum Wines, established in 2002 by Dr. Paul Skinner, is located in St. Helena, Napa Valley. Dr. Skinner, a viticulturist and soils expert, has extensive experience in vineyard management and soils analysis both domestically and internationally. The winery's name, "Sequum," reflects his focus on soil science, specifically the vertical relationships of soil layers. The flagship Kidd Ranch Vineyard, surrounding Skinner's home, was purchased in 1998 and originally contained Zinfandel vines planted in the 1970s. Sequum produces a range of wines, including a notable rosé made from Grenache and Syrah, and various red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. The wines are characterized by balance and a focus on varietal expression rather than heavy oak influence. The winemaking team, previously at Pride Mountain Vineyards, continues to craft Sequum's wines. Visitors can expect a personalized tasting experience, with wines that reflect both the vineyard's terroir and Dr. Skinner's commitment to sustainable practices. Additionally, Skinner has consulted on vineyard projects internationally, including in China, further enhancing his expertise in viticulture.
