Sommras

Napa, CA

Sommras Napa Valley, established by Geetesh Goyal, produced its first vintage in 2018. Goyal, who has Indian and Italian heritage, was inspired by childhood memories of vineyards in Italy. Initially pursuing a career in dentistry, he shifted focus to wine after founding a recruiting firm and a networking app. In early 2023, he purchased a 25-acre vineyard on Atlas Peak, previously owned by Marcie and Tom Dinkel, and renamed it Sommras, reflecting a connection to Indian mythology. The vineyard, situated at 1,650 feet above sea level, is known for its unique microclimates and rocky soils, which contribute to concentrated grape flavors. It primarily grows Cabernet Sauvignon, with some Merlot and Petit Verdot. Winemaker Kent Jarman, who has experience with the property, has crafted the wines since the inaugural vintage. Sommras produces a range of wines, including Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing vibrant flavors and balanced acidity. The winery's offerings reflect the distinct terroir of Atlas Peak, with wines that are noted for their freshness and aging potential. The property also features two ponds, adding to its scenic charm.
