Somnium Wine, located in Napa Valley, was established by former race-car driver Danica Patrick, who is known for her groundbreaking achievements in motorsports. Inspired by her visits to Napa in 2006, she decided to pursue winemaking after meeting winemaker Aaron Pott at Quintessa. In 2009, with Pott and vineyard manager David Abreu's assistance, she purchased a rugged 24-acre site near Howell Mountain, which had never been developed for vineyards. The property, now part of the newly approved Crystal Springs Appellation, features six unique vineyard blocks primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, along with some Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot. Somnium's wines are crafted organically, with the vineyard receiving CCOF certification in 2019. The winery's first official release was the 2014 vintage, and Danica is involved in blend decisions. The tasting experience is offered by reservation at their new Calistoga tasting salon, featuring private tastings of current releases and verticals. The space is designed with artistic elements, including a unique piece of art made from a tree affected by the Glass Fire. Somnium Wine reflects Danica's philosophy of following one's dreams, both in its name and its creative presentation.
