Stone the Crows Wine is a single vineyard winery located in the hills east of St. Helena, Napa Valley, above Lake Hennessy. Owned by Rick Talmadge, who transitioned from a successful career in real estate law to winemaking, the vineyard was established in 2004 on land previously used for cattle grazing. The vineyard, named Three Twins Vineyard in honor of Talmadge's triplets, spans five acres and primarily produces Cabernet Sauvignon, with a second wine, Fallen Feather, introduced after five years. The winemaker, Thomas, is a prominent figure in Napa Valley, known for his extensive consulting work and having received multiple 100-point scores from Robert Parker early in his career. The winery's name, Stone the Crows, reflects an Australian expression of surprise, inspired by the crows that frequent the property. Tastings are available by appointment in the Winemakers Den at Brasswood Winery, which offers a comfortable setting for visitors. The Brasswood property includes multiple tasting rooms, a restaurant, and a gourmet deli, making it a unique destination for wine enthusiasts. Stone the Crows Wine recently began offering tastings at a new location in Calistoga, enhancing accessibility to their wines.
