Teachworth is a private wine estate situated in the Diamond Mountain District of Napa Valley, founded by Joan and Walter Teachworth, who moved from Galveston, Texas, in 1991. After initially seeking a quieter lifestyle, they were inspired to produce premium wines, leading them to acquire 80 acres of rugged land. The estate features two organically grown vineyards, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, and has a small production of around 600 cases annually. The winery, designed by Walter, focuses on limited production wines that undergo extended aging. The first vintage was released in 2000, and the estate has faced various challenges, including wildlife interference and the devastating Glass Fire in 2020, which destroyed their primary residence but spared the winery. Tastings at Teachworth are tailored for serious wine enthusiasts, often led by winemaker Taylor Berkley Boydstun, providing an intimate look at the winemaking process. The estate is known for its stunning views and beautifully landscaped grounds. Teachworth wines are sold directly to consumers, with select older vintages available online.
