Terra Valentine

St Helena, CA

Terra Valentine is a winery located in the Mayacamas mountains above St. Helena, Napa Valley, founded in 1999 by Christopher Angus and Margaret Wurtele. The couple purchased 75 acres of land, including vineyards, and named their vineyard Wurtele Vineyard. They later acquired the Yverdon Winery, which had a rich history dating back to its founding by Fred Aves in 1965. The winery's name honors Angus's father, Valentine, who had a successful career in the paint industry. After the Wurteles sold the winery and one vineyard to Jackson Family Estates in 2013, they transferred ownership of Terra Valentine to their longtime winemaker, Sam Baxter, in 2014. This change allowed Baxter to source grapes from various vineyards, leading to a diverse wine portfolio that includes limited production wines, such as a dry Riesling and a sparkling Blanc de Noir. The winery emphasizes its connection to the Fountaingrove District and produces wines with a focus on quality and complexity. Visitors can expect a variety of tasting experiences, showcasing the unique terroir of the region.
