Lawer Estates is a family-owned winery located in the hills above Calistoga, Napa Valley, operated by Betsy and her daughter Sarah. The winery's roots trace back to the couple's investment in Folie à Deux Winery in 1995, where they met winemaker Scott Harvey, who later crafted their initial vintages. Betsy owns two estate vineyards: a 5-acre property near the tasting room and over 100 acres in Knights Valley, Sonoma County, where diverse microclimates allow for a variety of grapes, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Viognier, and Syrah. Lawer Estates produces a range of wines, with a focus on aromatic whites and balanced reds. Their offerings include an off-dry Rosé of Syrah and several Chardonnays, including the whimsical Cannon Block Chardonnay, named after a childhood game played by Sarah in the vineyard. The winery also produces varietals such as Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing ripe fruit flavors and well-integrated tannins. Visitors can enjoy a tasting experience that reflects the family's history, with labels designed to resemble stock certificates, honoring Betsy's banking legacy. Lawer Estates also produces several other brands, each with personal significance to the family.
