The Crane Assembly

St Helena, CA

Crane Assembly, established in 2012 in Napa Valley, was co-founded by winemakers Dave Phinney and Kevin Fox, along with business partners Bryan Sandoli and Darryl Browman. In 2022, ownership transitioned to Vail and Leslie Miller, who have a rich family history in the beverage industry. The winery's winemaking is now overseen by Atelier Melka, with vineyard management handled by Wight Vineyard Management. The vineyard is historically significant, originally planted in 1885 by Dr. George Beldon Crane, making it one of the oldest continuously farmed vineyards in Napa Valley. The vineyard spans 8 acres, featuring a mix of varietals including Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Crane Assembly produces several wines, including a field blend called El Coco and a Cabernet Sauvignon, both showcasing the vineyard's heritage. Visitors can find Crane Assembly wines at various local establishments, and tastings can be arranged through their website. The winery emphasizes preserving the historical aspects of its vineyard while producing high-quality wines that reflect its legacy.
