Mascot Wine, founded by Will Harlan, is located in Napa Valley and draws from the family's extensive vineyard heritage, including Harlan Estate and BOND. Will, who gained winemaking experience while working at BOND, launched Mascot Wine in 2008 to share exceptional wines made from younger vines sourced from various Harlan-owned properties. Unlike the more terroir-focused wines of his family's other brands, Mascot emphasizes a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, utilizing grapes from vines aged 6 to 12 years. The wines are aged for five years before release, which is uncommon in Napa, and the production is limited to around 3,200 cases annually, with plans to increase to 5,000. The wines are selectively distributed, primarily through restaurants and wine shops, and are available to members once a year. Tasting experiences for select vintages can be found at the RH Wine Vault in Yountville. The 2019 vintage, for example, showcases a balanced profile with bright fruit flavors and savory notes, making it approachable yet reflective of the Harlan family's quality.
