Truchard Vineyards

Napa, CA

Truchard Vineyards is situated in the Carneros District of southern Napa Valley, founded in 1974 by Tony and Jo Ann Truchard. Initially selling grapes, they began producing their own wines in 1989, emphasizing small production lots while still supplying grapes to other wineries. The Truchards, originally from Texas, have a rich family history in agriculture dating back to the late 1800s. Their vineyard spans over 420 acres, with 290 acres planted, featuring diverse soils and microclimates ideal for grape growing. The winery operates from a restored barn dating back to the 1880s and includes an 11,000 square foot wine cave. Truchard Vineyards focuses on producing varietal-specific wines, including unique varieties like Roussanne and Tempranillo, all sourced from their estate. Their wines are known for being balanced and reasonably priced. Visitors can expect a hands-on tasting experience, often with Tony and Jo Ann present. The winery's commitment to quality and tradition is evident in their winemaking practices and the care taken in vineyard management.
