Tulocay Winery

Napa, CA

$35

Tulocay Winery, established in 1975, is the oldest continuously operating winery in Coombsville, a sub-appellation of Napa Valley known for its cooler climate and diverse micro-climates. Founded by Bill Cadman, who transitioned from a career in finance to winemaking, Tulocay sources grapes from small single vineyards, focusing on varietals like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Zinfandel. The winery has no vineyards of its own but maintains long-term relationships with growers, including the historic Haynes Vineyard. In 2012, Bill's daughter Brie took over winemaking responsibilities, continuing the family legacy. Tulocay is noted for its relaxed tasting experience, often held outdoors on a shaded patio, where visitors can engage with Bill, who shares historical insights about Napa Valley. Tulocay's wines are characterized by their varietal purity and traditional winemaking techniques. The Pinot Noir is crafted in a Burgundian style, while the Chardonnays are made without oak aging. The winery is recognized for offering exceptional value, producing a wide range of wines that reflect the unique terroir of Coombsville and beyond.
