Varozza Vineyards is a small production winery located just minutes from downtown St. Helena, encompassing approximately 37 acres with 17 blocks of various grape varietals. The winery, owned by Jack and Dianna Varozza, features a restored ghost winery built in 1885, showcasing the family’s deep roots in Napa Valley winemaking, dating back to 1913. The vineyard benefits from rich alluvial soils at the confluence of the Napa River and York Creek, with some of the oldest vines in the region, including Sauvignon Blanc planted in 1968 and Cabernet Sauvignon from the mid-1960s. Varozza began offering tastings by appointment in 2008, providing a relaxed experience often hosted by the owners themselves. Guests can enjoy tastings outdoors near the vineyards, complemented by cheese and crackers. The winery produces under 1,000 cases annually, focusing on reasonably priced wines meant for immediate consumption. Notable wines include a Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon, each showcasing unique characteristics influenced by the vineyard's heritage and terroir. Varozza Vineyards emphasizes a commitment to quality and tradition, with a philosophy that wine should be accessible to all.
