VGS Chateau Potelle, established in 1983 by Jean-Noel and Marketta Fourmeaux, is located in Napa Valley. After falling in love with the region during a research trip in 1980, they opened the winery on Mt. Veeder, which was sold to Kendall Jackson in 2007. Jean-Noel is now the sole owner and has rebranded the winery, focusing on smaller production, scaling down from 20,000 to 8,000 cases. The winery emphasizes a minimalist winemaking approach, using natural yeasts and sourcing grapes primarily from hillside vineyards to create age-worthy, food-friendly wines. The winery's new tasting room, opened in 2013 in St. Helena, offers a contemporary experience paired with culinary delights that complement their wines. Tasting options include intimate sessions and outdoor experiences in a garden courtyard. VGS Chateau Potelle produces two main wine series: the primary VGS label and the VGS Explorer series, which features unique blends. Notable wines include a rich Chardonnay and a Bordeaux blend called fifty/FIFTY, showcasing a harmonious mix of Napa and Bordeaux fruit. The winery also offers culinary experiences in partnership with local restaurants, enhancing the visitor experience.
