Vida Valiente Winery, located east of St. Helena in Napa Valley's Crystal Springs sub-appellation, was founded by Hayes and Susana Drumwright, along with winemaker Sam Kaplan and his wife Nancy. The winery's first vintage was produced in 2019, following the purchase of a 17.5-acre property previously used as a walnut orchard. The vineyard was planted in 2018, but a fire in 2020 destroyed some young vines, leading to a replanting of Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery is in the process of developing a cave winery and hospitality space, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027. The surrounding area features a blend of natural landscapes and vineyards, with notable neighbors including Merus and Hundred Acre. Kaplan, who has extensive experience in the Napa wine industry, produces wines characterized by robust tannins and aging potential. The winery's offerings include various Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings, showcasing complex flavors and aromas. Vida Valiente primarily sells its wines direct to consumers, with an annual production of around 1,200 cases. The winery also engages in charitable efforts through the Vida Valiente Foundation, hosting events to raise funds for various causes.
