Vineyard 36

Brenham, TX

Vineyard 36 is a Napa winery co-founded by former NHL players Cam Ward and Tim Gleason, alongside Jason Earnest, who previously founded Tobacco Road Cellars. The winery's name reflects the jersey numbers of Ward (#30) and Gleason (#6). Rather than owning vineyards, Vineyard 36 sources grapes from esteemed sites, including vineyards owned by Andy Beckstoffer, focusing on crafting high-quality wines from multiple sources. The inaugural vintage was produced in 2012 by winemaker David Tate, followed by Keith Emerson starting in 2016. The winemaking moved to Vineyard 29's state-of-the-art facility under Emerson's direction. Vineyard 36 produces around 1,000 cases annually, with notable wines including The Black Aces and The Foundation, which are selectively distributed. Their wines are characterized by balance and age-worthiness, showcasing a range of flavors and textures. Tastings are available by appointment at Vineyard 29, prioritizing mailing list members. The winery has received high ratings from critics and emphasizes a passion for wine, reflected in their motto, "passion becomes contagious when shared."
