Waugh Family Wines is located in The Caves at Soda Canyon, approximately 20 minutes from downtown Napa, with scenic views of Soda Canyon and southern Napa Valley. Founded by Ryan Waugh in 2001, the winery features a 22,000 square-foot underground facility situated in the Stags Leap District. Although the Waugh family has since relocated to Texas, their influence remains significant. The winery opened in late 2013 and initially operated as a community partnership among several Napa winemaking families. It has survived natural disasters, including the 2014 Napa earthquake and the 2017 Atlas Peak fire, thanks to its underground structure. Waugh Family Wines emphasizes terroir, sourcing grapes from various California vineyards, and maintaining strict vineyard management practices. The winery produces a range of wines, including Chardonnay, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a focus on quality and flavor. Visitors can enjoy tastings in a well-lit indoor alcove or on an outdoor terrace with stunning views. The winery also offers a wine club, "Friends of Waughs," providing access to current and limited releases. Total production is around 4,000 cases annually.
