White Rock Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery located in a secluded area of Napa Valley, specifically at the base of the Stags Leap District. Founded in 1977 by Henri and Claire Vandendriessche, the winery focuses on producing limited-production, food-friendly wines, primarily Chardonnay and Claret, a red blend. The property, originally part of a larger land grant, features a historic stone winery built in 1870, which the Vandendriessches converted into their home. After experiencing significant damage from the 2017 Napa fires, the winery has continued to thrive under the management of Henri's sons, with Christopher serving as the winemaker. The vineyard spans 25 acres, featuring a variety of grape types, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Viognier, all cultivated organically. Visitors can enjoy limited tours and tastings, which cater to serious wine enthusiasts. The winery's cave, dug in 1987, is notable for its unique bottle aging system. White Rock is recognized for its distinctive Chardonnays, which are crafted in a Burgundian style and have excellent aging potential, making them a sought-after choice among Napa Valley wines.
