William Cole Vineyards

St Helena, CA

William Cole Vineyards, located north of St. Helena in Napa Valley, was founded in 1999 by Bill and Jane Ballentine. Bill, the vineyard manager and winemaker, comes from a family with a long history in Napa, dating back to 1906. The winery's name combines Bill's name with that of his son, Cole, who serves as the assistant winemaker. The vineyard spans three and a half acres, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, and employs meticulous vineyard practices to highlight micro terroir variations. The wines from William Cole are characterized by finesse and balance, with a notable use of oak and extended barrel aging of 28 to 34 months. Their offerings include a range of wines, such as the Chardonnay and the STONEMAIDEN red blend, both showcasing vibrant fruit and elegant profiles. The winery also produces unique small lot wines and multi-vintage blends, emphasizing their commitment to quality and innovation. Visitors can experience the winery's rich history and exceptional wines, although the location is somewhat discreet, hidden behind trees along Highway 29. William Cole Vineyards continues to build on its legacy while maintaining a focus on crafting distinctive Napa Valley wines.
