Chaix Wines, located in Rutherford, Napa Valley, is a family-owned winery founded by siblings Kathy and John Chaix. The winery operates on a historic 37-acre property, primarily dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon, which is cultivated across seven distinct vineyard blocks. The vineyard benefits from rich, alluvial soils and is situated near notable neighbors such as Phelps Vineyard and Inglenook. The Chaix family's history in Napa Valley dates back to 1909 when their great-grandfather, Adrienne Pierre Chaix, purchased the original property. Over the years, the family has been involved in various agricultural ventures, including grape growing and winemaking. In 2008, Kathy initiated the winery to produce their own wine, leading to a current production of around 1,000 cases annually. The focus is on crafting a single varietal wine from organically farmed grapes, with a notable addition of a rosé introduced in 2017. Visitors can expect a personalized tasting experience at this micro-winery, which emphasizes handcrafted wines and the preservation of its historical heritage. The wines are characterized by their balance and complexity, reflecting the unique Rutherford terroir.
