ZD Wines, established in 1969 by engineers Norman deLeuze and Gino Zepponi along with their wives, is a family-owned winery located in Rutherford, Napa Valley. Initially named Zepponi and deLeuze Winery, it has remained under family management, with the founders' descendants actively involved. The winery began in Sonoma County, where they produced their first vintages using rented facilities and old winemaking equipment. Focusing on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon, ZD Wines emphasizes organic farming practices across its vineyards, which have been certified organic since 1999. The winery operates entirely on solar energy and is recognized for its sustainable practices. Although not open to the public regularly, ZD hosts an annual charity event and offers intimate tasting experiences in its renovated hospitality center, featuring stunning views of Napa Valley. The winery's wines are characterized by a preference for American oak, resulting in unique flavor profiles. Notable offerings include their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which showcase a balance of fruitiness and acidity. ZD Wines has a rich history in the Napa Valley wine community, being a founding member of the Sonoma Valley Vintner's Association.
